Today at noon, the Isle of Capri Casino, located in Natchez, Mississippi, will be closing its doors. The casino has operated in the area for over two decades and was one of the oldest remaining gambling houses in the state. It was announced back in August that the casino would be closed and sold, with Jill Alexander, a spokeswoman for the casino, confirming the closing for today.

The Casino Holding Investment Partners group purchased the property for $11.5 million, with the sale being completed tomorrow. The hotel will be closed for at least two to three days as the new owner switches over to their computer system as well as changing out vending machines along with other work needs. The casino should reopen sometime next week after these small changes are complete.

According to Kevin Preston, the Magnolia Bluffs Casino President, the venue will undergo a complete rebranding and renovation beginning almost immediately. The work will take around 30 days to finish. The hotel rooms will be remodeled, with one floor completed at a time so the hotel can remain open. It should take around four months for this remodeling process.

Jill Alexander stated that the casino portion of the venue, which is a barge with a riverboat replicated on top, has not had its fate determined yet. It has also not been determined as to if the barge will be moved from the area or remain. The Isle of Capri Company is now trying to evaluate if any equipment can be taken from the casino and used at the other properties owned by the company. There are 14 other casinos located in the US, all operated by Isle of Capri.

Since 2000, the Isle of Capri has owned the casino in Natchez, which offered over 500 slot games and six table games, all located in a dockside casino. In 2015, the casino was able to earn $23 million in revenues but has seen a sharp decline in earnings since the Magnolia Bluffs Casino opened in 2012.
