In Australia and Antonia ‘Toni’ Korsanos (pictured) has reportedly announced that she will be stepping down as a non-executive director for Crown Resorts Limited next month in order to concentrate on other business commitments.
According to a report from The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, the executive joined the local casino operator’s board of directors in the middle of 2018 after a nine-year spell serving as the Chief Financial Officer for gaming machines manufacturer Aristocrat Leisure Limited. The newspaper detailed that the chartered accountant then became one of only two senior executives to survive the public enquiry into her employer’s New South Wales license suitability, which ultimately determined that it could have been guilty of a slew of money laundering allegations owing to its past use of foreign junket firms.
Practiced proficiency:
Korsanos reportedly also earlier worked for local food companies Goodman Fielder Limited and Kellogg’s Australia and New Zealand as well as Sydney-headquartered accountancy Coopers and Lybrand. The 51-year-old purportedly used an official filing to explain that she is proud of the work her firm has done in reforming itself but will nevertheless be stepping down after its next annual general meeting on October 21.
Senior switch:
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Crown Resorts Limited’s current board features only four people while its incoming Chairman, Dr Ziggy Switkowski, is still awaiting the completion of various state probity checks. This Germany-born figure is purportedly well-known as the former boss for Australian telecommunications provider Telstra Corporation Limited and was last month named as the replacement for Helen Coonan, who recently resigned in the wake of criticism from the Victoria royal commission looking into the beleaguered casino company’s dealings.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Jane Halton has taken over the reins at Crown Resorts Limited as the firm’s Interim Chairman and she pronounced that Korsanos has long been a figure of ‘stability and outstanding leadership and support’ for the Melbourne-headquartered operator. In terms of the departing executive’s other business interests and the newspaper explained that she serves on the board of American land-based and online gaming behemoth Scientific Games Corporation while furthermore holding a directorship at Treasury Wine Estates.
