In April, the proposal by the ASF Consortium to create a mega-casino along Wave Break Island was suspended. The group has now confirmed they are in talks with government officials of Queensland to present a new proposal to help bring the project back to life.

Over the next few weeks, ASF plans on meeting with the local Queensland government to present a new proposal for Wave Break Island. According to a press release by ASF, the group plans on presenting a new proposal as soon as it is practical. The group, working with Chinese investors, had planned on creating a $7 billion+ integrated resort which would include over 2,800 guest rooms, seven hotels, five star eco-hotel plus 24 bars and restaurants as well as a cruise ship terminal.

The first ASF project was suspended after several environmental groups came forward in opposition of the proposal. The groups were concerned that large cruise ships would impact the marine environment in a negative way.
