Ayia Napa, Cyprus will soon be home to a new satellite casino thanks to a gaming license held by Melco International Development Ltd. The new gaming venue will begin construction this month and the facility should be open by the summer.
C2 Ayia Napa:
The official name of the satellite casino is Cyprus Casinos Ayia Napa, but the property will be known as C2 Ayia Napa. The venue will offer 35 employment positions initially, based on the press release issued by the company.
In the summer of 2017, the Republic of Cyprus decided to give a casino license with a 30-year time frame to the Integrated Casino Resorts Cyprus Ltd consortium. Melco is a partner of the consortium. The license holder has the ability to build up to four satellite casinos on top of the main property gaming venue.
The main property will be the City of Dreams Mediterranean. Construction of this venue will begin this month. The facility is not expected to be open until 2021.
According to GGRAsia…
The consortium opened two satellite casinos in 2018, with one opening in Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus, and one at the Larnaca International Airport. Both were opened in December and offer quality casino gaming.
City of Dreams Mediterranean:
Earlier this month, Melco announced they had finalized their decision on a contractor for the City of Dreams Mediterranean project. Avax—Terna JV will be the company behind the construction. The group is a joint venture of Avax SA and Terna SA.
The building of the casino resort will begin this month, with Melco confident that Avax—Terna JV will be able to complete the project to the highest construction stands. According to Melco chairman, Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, the construction company will enable Melco to bring ‘an extraordinary integrated casino resort to Cyprus.’
