iGaming Business – The Belgian Gaming Commission (Kansspelcommissie) has called for a new blacklist to be introduced in order to restrict access to free gambling mobile applications.

According to reports in the Belgian media, the regulatory body said that it was concerned that free apps lower the bar for people seeking to participate in paying gambling services, which in turns opens the games up to younger players.

In addition to a blacklist, the regulator also suggested an industry agreement and adoption of age verification tools that can be used to stop minors from accessing the apps.

Although the regulatory body already has a blacklist system in place for other types of gambling services, national regulations of games of chance only apply to games where players need to stake money in order to play.
