The six operating casinos of Maryland saw a less than stellar February, as casino revenues basically remained the same. Maryland Lottery and Gaming has reported the monthly revenue figures, showing the casinos earning $136.8 million for the month. This is a 0.1% increase from February of last year and flat when compared to January.

Individual Breakdown:

The monthly take for casinos came in at just over $57 million with close to $43 million going towards the Education Trust Fund of the state. The biggest earner for the month was MGM National Harbor, with the venue bringing in $53.9 million in gaming revenue. This was a 1.5% from February 2018.

Live! Casino & Hotel came in second in revenue earnings for February, bringing in $46 million. This was a 2% decrease from the same time last year. A larger drop was seen by the Baltimore Horseshoe Casino at 3.6%, with only $20.7 million in earnings.

Ocean Downs Casino Resort saw the largest increase for the month at 15.3%. The casino earned just over $5.7 million for the month. Also seeing an increase in earnings was the Hollywood Casino Perryville and the Rocky Gap Casino Resort. Hollywood was up 2.6% while Rocky Gap came in at 3.8% higher than February of 2018.

Continued Growth for MGM:

While MGM National Harbor did not see the same growth rates as last year, the newest casino to the state continues to grow consistently. The venue was launched in December 2016 and remains the top earner for Maryland. The Horseshoe Baltimore has struggled since MGM was created, as the venue is nearby competition.
