The MGM Springfield was open for its first full month in September with revenue reports released this week showing the venue earned almost $27 million in gross gaming revenues in that time frame. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has reported that the venue was able to generate just over $18.1 million via slot gaming and just over $8.8 million with table games.

A Solid Opening:

The new casino resort first opened on August 24th and within the first eight days of business, was able to generate over $7.34 million from slot games and close to $2.11 million from table games. Since opening in August, the casino has remained busy and does not show any signs of slowing down. The September figures indicate that the casino is a destination for residents in the area as well as visitors to the region.

Revenue Taxes:

MGM Springfield is a Category 1 resort casino that sees their gross gaming revenue taxes at 25%. The money provided from gaming revenues is placed within state funds. The majority of the funds are used for local aid within the cities and towns of the state as well as money going towards transportation and infrastructure as well as education.

Since Plainridge Park Casino and MGM Springfield have been in operation, they have provided a total of $273,300,682 in taxes and assessments.
