Despite not opening until 2018, the First Light Resort and Casino is already working on the hiring process for the venue. Hosting a job fair yesterday, casino officials saw hundreds of individuals turn out to learn more about the employment opportunities for the venue.
Demolition has begun for the Taunton project and the first priority is to hire construction jobs, with around 1,000 positions to be available. Southeastern Massachusetts Building Trades Council President, David Arujo, stated that most of all the building trades of Southeastern Massachusetts were on site for the job openings, including bricklayers, carpenters, iron workers, roofers and more.
The Holiday Inn of Taunton hosted the job fair and around 800 individuals attended. Arujo pointed out that the casino is a big deal in the area as it is going to be a big boost for the economy, good for construction workers as well.
Once the casino is finished, the venue will be hiring permanent positions which should be around 2,600. The casino will have a large gaming area were dealers will be needed as well as other positions. The casino will include a 15 story hotel, 3,000 slot games and a solid number of table games.
