Island Resort Casino near Harris, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan first opened in 1985 and recently announced a two year renovation and expansion plan. The expansion will include the addition of a second golf course to complement the existing 18-hole Sweetgrass Golf Club, which is located just behind the casino complex.

Further improvements will include renovation of the hotel and business-front, the addition of a full-service spa, and refurbishing the bingo room. The Island Sports Bar will also get a complete makeover and larger footprint in the casino.

The expansion and renovation plan was recently approved by the Hannahville Tribal Council. The Island Resort Casino property currently has a 55,000 square foot casino floor with 1,200 slot machines and 26 tables, a 275 room hotel, 53 space RV Park, 5 restaurants, 2 lounges, and an entertainment venue, as well as 13,000 square feet of flexible conference, meeting, and event space.
