On Thursday, July 8th, 2021 Major League Baseball announced that they have extended the administrative leave an additional seven more days for Los Angeles Dodgers’ starting pitcher Trevor Bauer during the investigation into the sexual assault allegations against the troubled ball player. This recent extension handed down by MLB officials was initiated on the last day of Trevor’s original administrative leave. Bauer like all MLB players is guaranteed full compensation as well as service time while the investigation by Major League Baseball is being conducted.
The Sexual Assault Allegations
The Pasadena Police Department are also conducting a separate investigation into Bauer in response to a woman that has accused Trevor of choking her until she was rendered unconscious on several occasions. The sexual assault allegations that she has brought to the attention of the national audience also include Bauer punching her in multiple areas of her body, leaving the women with various injuries requiring a serious hospitalization which ensued shortly after 2 sexual encounters between these two parties that occurred earlier this year.
The second and most recent alleged sexual assault incident filed by the women happened on May 16th, 2021 at Trevor’s home located in Pasadena, California. These accusations are just a part of an official domestic violence restraining order that was initiated in the Los Angeles County Superior Court within the last week or so. Copies of these documents have reportedly been acquired by several major media outlets such as ESPN for example.
According to ESPN, “The restraining order was executed as a temporary ex parte, which can be attained without input from the other party. Bauer’s side plans to deny the account during a hearing scheduled for July 23 (2021), according to his representatives. Last week, those representatives issued a statement denying that Bauer had assaulted the woman, calling the encounters ‘wholly consensual.’”
Involvement by MLB and the Major League Baseball Players Association
Due to the fact that the investigation by Major League Baseball as well as the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) will be a long and thorough process chances are high that the MLB will most likely extend the administrative leave for Bauer again next week and continuously as needed when looking to the future.
If the MLBPA does not grant consent for the possible future extension or extensions then Major League Baseball as well as the Los Angeles Dodgers might have to make the tough decision of allowing Trevor back on the active roster or punishing the 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner at that time. The Los Angeles Dodgers have previously expressed that Bauer will most likely not be welcomed back to the team’s active roster following his administrative leave that he is currently serving. All in all, things are looking very bad for Trevor Bauer right now, and I expect in today’s climate that these matters will be punished severely by the various different organizations that are now involved in these serious issues.
Trevor Bauer’s Baseball Career Achievements, Honors, and Awards

- National League ERA Leader (2020)

Media Statements
“We continue to refute [the woman’s] allegations in the strongest possible terms and Mr. Bauer vehemently denies her account of their two meetings. Again, administrative leave is neither a disciplinary action nor does it in any way reflect a finding in the league’s investigation,” Rachel Luba and Jon Fetterolf, Trevor Bauer’s co – agents, expressed to the media on Thursday, July 8th, 2021 through a statement correlating to Major League Baseball’s recent actions involving Bauer’s extended administrative leave of absence.
