The Pechanga Resort Casino has a plan to reopen after being closed for over two months. The casino posted on their website late last week that they plan on opening their doors once again by June 1st. The owner and operator, the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians, were among the first to choose to close their tribal casino in an attempt to stop the spread of the coronavirus in California.
Reopening Plan:
On their website, casino officials created a post that stated California Governor Gavin Newsom and local officials are starting to relax stay at home orders as well as other measures, and they are happy to inform the public that a target reopening date of June 1st has been set. The actual date of reopening will be confirmed in the coming days.
The tribe reopened their RV resort in early May with limited spaces available. They also have other measures in place to prevent further spread of the virus. The golf course of the property opened even earlier, on April 26th.
Changes to the Casino:
When players are allowed to return to the Pechanga Resort Casino, it will be a different experience. According to the post, the casino will limit the number of slot machines in operation as well as positions at the table games, like blackjack.
The restaurants of the resort will not seat at full capacity. This will help to keep a physical distance between dining guests. High touch area cleaning will remain in place along with hand sanitizing stations. Employees of the facility will be required to complete mandatory safety training and wear a mask. Guests will most likely be required to wear some type of face covering as well.
The tribe has purchased non-invasive and touchless temperature checks that will be installed at the entrance of the casino so that guests can be scanned. Employee’s temperatures will also be checked before the workday begins.
