PokerStars announced this week that it is now operational in the province of Ontario. The brand was approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission, with all service options up and running in the region. In celebration, the poker platform of the brand is set to offer a new online poker series titled Ontario Platinum.
The license provided to PokerStars allows the brand to offer online poker, casino, and sports betting services in Ontario.
Premium Poker Gaming
For online poker fans, the new Ontario-only platform will offer the same great options that PokerStars is known for. Players will have access to gaming with Ontario members only and the launch marks the third online poker network to launch in the province.
Existing players of the brand will be migrated to the Ontario platform and have access to all the standard options of the poker room. This includes cash game tables, multi-table tournaments, Tempest, Spin & Go’s, Zoom, 6+ Hold’em, and Sit & Go.
To celebrate the launch of the online poker room, PokerStars plans to launch the Ontario Platinum Series. From July 10-18, the site will feature several tournament options exclusive to the province, with CAD $1.5 million in total prize money up for grabs. It is also expected that the brand will offer an Ontario Championship of Online Poker (ONCOOP) later this year.
A new Sunday major event is also coming to the province, giving players even more great tournament action to look forward to on a weekly basis.
Casino and Sports Betting Too
While poker is a top service provided by PokerStars, the brand also has casino and sports betting in the mix. Players in Ontario can access the sportsbook and casino at any time, with options for all sports markets and popular casino games.
For the casino, when players click on the Casino tab, it takes players to a new page where the province must be selected. Pick Ontario and then watch as slots and table games pop up. The sportsbook offers direct access to betting on all types of markets including football, baseball, basketball, ice hockey, and more.
Each platform can easily be accessed online via desktop or mobile devices. It will be interesting to see how the brand’s online operations fare over the next few weeks compared to top competitors in each sector. PokerStars is a big brand name and many players have been patiently waiting to see it drop in Ontario, especially online poker fans.
