With water levels continuing to rise on the Ohio River, the Horseshoe Southern Indiana Casino and Hotel has decided to temporarily close the hotel as a safety precaution. On Tuesday, the hotel as well as spa and café were closed due to a high water threat and will stay closed until the river is no longer near or at the flood stage.

The closing of the Indiana hotel marks the first time the property has shut down since 2015, also for flooding. According to a report by WDRB.com, while the hotel is shut down, the casino as well as shops and pavilion associated with the property will remain open. To stay abreast of the situation, management of the hotel receive calls each day from the Army Corps of Engineers, reporting safety levels of the river.

Water can already be seen flooding the parking garage and parking lot of the property, from Highway 111. Yesterday, due to the hotel closure, an email was sent out via the hotel staff to notify guests of the situation. Social media accounts were also used to report the shutdown. Hotel management has been working with guests to help them find other places to stay in the area.
