American lottery and gaming machines innovator, Scientific Games Corporation (SG), has begun 2019 with a bang after inking a deal that is to see it supply the Oneida Indian Nation with sportsbetting technologies for potential use at a trio of upstate New York casinos.

Waiting for legalization:

The Las Vegas-headquartered firm used an official Monday press release (pdf) to detail that the agreement will facilitate the launch of launch of sportsbooks inside the federally-recognized tribe’s Point Place Casino, Turning Stone Resort Casino and Yellow Brick Road Casino as soon as the activity is legalized across the eastern state.

SG Digital attraction:

SG stated that the alliance also includes the provision of the OpenBet sportsbetting platform from its SG Digital subsidiary, which will allow the Oneida Indian Nation to take advantage of ‘player-centric technology’ as well as in-house data feeds provided by its recently-acquired Don Best Sports Corporation subordinate.

Market leader aspirations:

Jordan Levin, newly-appointed Group Chief Executive for SG Digital, declared that sports wagering could be legalized across New York as early as this year and that the initial market leaders are destined to be those that offer ‘world-class player experiences built on stable and reliable technology.’ He moreover proclaimed that legalization could result in ‘The Empire State’ becoming ‘one of the largest states in terms of sportsbetting revenues’ while the alliance with the Oneida Indian Nation is due to let the pair ‘prepare for an anticipated launch when the market opens.’

Levin’s statement read…

“Sportsbetting is taking the United States by storm with quick-to-market operators in early regulated states seeing huge success. By partnering with the Oneida Indian Nation who has secured the Caesars Entertainment [Corporation] brand, we’re planning to mirror that success in New York as soon as sportsbetting is authorized there. We’re thrilled to partner with Oneida in affiliation with the Caesars brand to bring sportsbetting to consumers in New York once authorized.”

Ready from ‘day one’:

For his part, Ray Halbritter from the Oneida Indian Nation, proclaimed that the tribe selected Scientific Games Corporation as a partner ‘after rigorous assessment of the supplier market’ and now looks forward to giving patrons at the three casinos ‘the best sportsbetting experience starting on day one.’

Halbritter’s statement read…

“Being among the first Indian nations nationally to operate a sportsbook and among the first to offer sportsbetting in New York represents our commitment to entering this burgeoning market ready for rapid acceleration. We are already hard at work planning to capitalize on the opportunity by partnering with the industry’s top technology supplier. Simply put, the combination of our partnership with SG Digital and our previously-announced alliance with Caesars Entertainment [Corporation] positions us to win big in New York.”
