In an effort to enhance its sports betting offering, leading provider of gambling products and services, Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS), has put together a sportsbook operations team in Gibraltar.

The team will be led by former William Hill and Superbet exec, Stuart Weston.

According to the official press release (pdf)…

The new team will be able to provide direct support to the gaming supply company’s customers to help grow their sportsbook operations by offering clients a managed service. The move leverages the company’s sports betting offering and spurs a “fast-to-market, full-stack sportsbook portfolio” that includes portal, sports betting, retail services and mobile betting.

A natural step:

“Given the massive opportunity in the U.S. and the continued success of existing markets, the addition of sportsbook operations is a natural step up for our business,” said SG Digital senior vice president of sportsbook Keith O’Loughlin. “The team will work directly with our partners to operate and run their sportsbooks, ramping up the value of sports betting for everyone involved.

“It’s a new ball game, and our partners have asked to tap into our vast knowledge to help with day-to-day sportsbook operations. Now, we’re completely equipped to offer that capability and support customers in growing their business like never before.”

Weston to lead team:

Leading the new team will be Stuart Weston (pictured below), who has been appointed vice president of sportsbook operations for SG Digital. Weston brings with him two decades of industry experience, having most recently worked as managing director of the iGaming arm of Romanian operator Superbet and prior to that for William Hill as sportsbook product director.

According to Scientific Games, the creation of the new team reflects the company’s commitment to the continued growth of its sports betting offering, as well as its commitment to the team’s base, Gibraltar.

The Las Vegas-based gaming supply giant recently congratulated its client, the Maryland Lottery, for its record-breaking year, having surpassed annual sales of $2 billion for the first time.

In addition to its instant games and marketing services, instant game management technologies, licensed properties, and the My Lottery Rewards player loyalty program, in June last year, Scientific Games scored a new, eight-year systems technology and services contract from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA).
