The five casinos in Maryland brought in an all-time high of $104.4 million in gross revenues last month led by the performance of Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover and the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore.
According to official figures from the Maryland Lottery And Gaming Agency, May represented the second consecutive record-breaking month in terms of overall casino revenues, which rose 8.3% year-on-year and topped April’s figure by some $500,000
“Maryland’s casino business is on a roll,” said Gordon Medenica, Director for the Maryland Lottery And Gaming Agency. “Two consecutive record months is a noteworthy achievement and I congratulate all of our casino partners.”
The figures show that Maryland Live! Casino with its 3,923 slots and 206 table games generated $59.08 million in May revenues, which was a boost of 1.8% year-on-year. Operated by The Cordish Companies, the suburban Baltimore casino reported table game revenues of $22.73 million for the 31-day period while its slots brought in $36.53 million.
In terms of the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, May gross revenues increased by 31.3% year-on-year to top $28.79 million with its 2,202 slots generating $15.68 million in earnings followed by $13.1 million from its 178 table games.
The smaller Hollywood Casino Perryville in the north of the state generated overall revenues of $6.89 million, which was a 3.1% decline year-on-year, with its 850 slots accounting for $5.93 million of the total. The venue owned and operated by Gaming And Leisure Properties further saw its 22 table games account for revenues of just over $963,000 in May.
For its part, the slots-only Casino At Ocean Downs saw gross May revenues from its 800 machines rise by 3.2% year-on-year to hit $5.15 million while the Rocky Gap Casino Resort near Cumberland generated $4.42 million from its 634 slots and 18 table games, which signified a 4.1% swell.
