Boston based Suffolk Construction Co. has been chosen to complete the $1.7 billion Wynn’s Everett casino project. The operator announced on Tuesday morning that the company would be the general contractor for the establishment, which is located on the post of a former chemical plant. The expected opening date of the resort is scheduled for 2018.

This contract is Massachusetts’ largest private construction contract ever and it’s expected to create numerous constructions and permanent jobs in the area. Preliminary analysis show that the construction of the casino would involve around 4,000 people, whereas once it’s opened it would permanently employ approximately 4,000 locals.

Wynn Everett president, Robert DeSalvio, stated that building a five-star resort which would meet the high Wynn quality standards “requires attention to detail that is unwavering.” Therefore, he added, Wynn selected a construction company, Suffolk Construction, that shared the operator’s values and which was working “full speed” to meet that groundbreaking target within the given deadlines.

Even though Suffolk is one of the top construction companies in Massachusetts, the firm hasn’t been awarded such a huge contract ever before. Some of the projects it has successfully completed in the past include Boston Opera House, Liberty Hotel and Four Seasons Hotel Boston. When it comes to experience in casino construction, the company’s been in charge of building California and Florida based casinos.

A representative from Suffolk to comment on the establishment of the Wynn Everett casino project was the chief executive of the company John F. Fish. He said that the establishment of the gambling facility would improve the company’s portfolio and announced that construction would start in early spring.

Wynn Resorts Ltd. was given green light to construct a luxurious gaming resort on the territory of the Bay state back in 2014.
