Recent reports have revealed that Muscogee (Creek) Nation Tribal Chief George Tiger may not have acted in the best interests of his tribe when he signed an agreement permitting the construction of a Kialegee casino. The controversial casino may pose a threat to the Muscogee Tribe’s casinos and tribal members are angry and upset that their Chief may have acted against their interests. Led by Shelly Harjo-Brandy, tribal members gathered on the 18th of March at the Best Western hotel in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to sign a petition to sack Chief George Tiger.
The petition needs a total of 3,290 signatures to confirm that 20% of the tribe are not in favor of having George Tiger as their chief. Shelly Harjo-Brandy is confident that she can get over 4,000 signatures within a 60 day period and put an end to Chief Tiger’s reign.
