On June 4th 2015 it was reported that William Hill will be withdrawing its services from the Romanian market because of current regulatory developments in the country.
From the 2nd of June their services will no longer be available to players in Romania.
Affiliates have been told by the bookmaker that they must remove all marketing materials that are directed at Romanian players.
William Hill also said that they do believe that in the future they will return to the Romanian market and they feel they will be given the opportunity to work in the country once again.
William Hill will not be accepting any business from Romania, but players still have the chance to withdraw their existing account balances.
This decision by William Hill followed the Romanians government’s decision to apply a new online gambling framework. This will set out the requirements for operators to get licenses for online gambling services and products. Also there has been a 20% tax duty attached to online gambling revenues by the government.
