It’s Macau Snooker Masters time! The famous casino operator Wynn Macau Ltd announced that its huge event, Macau Snooker Masters, will be held in December this year. The event will be headlined by Ronnie O’Sullivan, the seven-time winner of the World Snooker Championship.

The best players in the world:

The event, which will be held at the Wynn Palace resort in Cotai, will begin on December 25 and will last until December 29. The tournament is invitational, and the best snooker players in the world will be there trying to win some fantastic prizes.

The eight best players in the world will compete in the Strip, and the grand prize is GBP 150.000 or US$189.500, as it’s released in the press release dedicated to the tournament.

Among the players will be Ding Jun Hui, one of the best snooker players in China and the first player from Asia who succeeds in becoming one of the best in the world. There will also be Marco Fu, a player from Hong Kong who has already ranked three times at the event. Other players that will visit Macau are Judd Trump, Jack Lisowski, Mark Williams, Kyren Wilson, and Si Jia Hui.

The tournament represents one of the initiatives of the Macau government to host more sports events in order to promote tourism and diversify the economy in the city, all to avoid being completely dependent on gambling activities in the region.

Wynn Macau Ltd’s local unit joined forces to organize this important tournament. Among the organizers are Wynn Resorts (Macau) SA, as well as the Macao Billiards General Association and Sailing Up Sports. The Sports Bureau, which is operated by the Macau government, also supports the event.

The way to get involved in the international sports market:

The president and vice chairman of Wynn Macau Ltd, Linda Chen, commented on the tournament, saying that this event’s main mission is to help in growing the sports culture in Macau. The event will help Macau to become an influential market in the sports industry, adding local colors to the international sports scene.

She added that this tournament is a part of Wynn Macau Ltd’s long-term plan to involve Macau in the global sports scene and increase the influence this important gambling market has on the whole sports market.

The event isn’t included in the calendar of the official World Snooker Tour.

Chen added: “The objective of Snooker Masters is to actively support the government’s ‘1+4’ diversification development strategy and to contribute to the growth of Macau’s sports culture and tourism industry. In addition, this esteemed event is also part of our long-term plan to bolster Macau’s influence in the international sports scene.”
