If you know the game of poker, then you most certainly have heard the name Mike Sexton (pictured here with Matt Savage and Vince Van Patten). As one of the founders of partypoker back in 2001, Mike has had a major role in the development of the site as well as the game of poker.

Mike has held the position of ambassador of partypoker for the last fifteen years, as well as held a position with the World Poker Tour. Now, GVC Holdings Plc has announced that Mike has been named Chairman of the online poker brand.

Mike Sexton has played a lead role in the game of poker, having been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2009 for his efforts and having been named a WPT Champion and earned a WSOP bracelet along the way. As Chairman, Mike will be representing the global poker community as well as help partypoker in a variety of ways.

Included in his duties will be to invest in the development of software to help deliver a leading player experience in the online poker industry. He will also work to improve customer service relations with players along with resolving player issues in a same day time frame. As Chairman, Mike will also be looking to reward loyal players who are game starters and keep the action going as well as offering promotions with added value for smaller bankroll players.

Additional factors that Mike will be focused on include:

  • Helping to develop partypoker Live into the largest live poker tour in the world
  • Appointment management members who actually care and are trusted individuals
  • Fight against third party software that provides players with an unfair advantage

Mike will actually be leaving his position within the World Poker Tour to focus on his new role within partypoker. Commenting on the change, Mike stated that he was at partypoker from the start, before he was a name or before a single virtual card was dealt. He is looking forward to working with people that love the game as he does and are not aiming to be second place, stating: “We are all in. Shuffle up and deal!”

Tom Waters, the partypoker Managing Director also commented on Mike’s new role at partypoker via the partypoker blog by stating he is delighted to see Mike decide to come on board as Chairman, and that everyone is dedicated to making partypoker the site for players and having the support of Mike will help the site get one step closer to this goal.
