Wynn Resorts provided an encouraging update on its ambitious project, the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, showcasing significant construction milestones. The project, a stone’s throw from Dubai International Airport, represents the first integrated resort in the UAE, merging luxury hospitality and gaming in a region known for its opulence.

Construction on track for 2027 opening:

As of 21 November 2024, the construction of Wynn Al Marjan Island has achieved a critical phase with 55% of the structural concrete completed. The resort’s main tower has risen to the 26th floor, and the walls have reached the 29th floor. The pace of construction is brisk, with the team completing approximately one floor each week, aiming for a ‘topping off’ by December 2025. Over the last 100 days, the structure has ascended by an impressive 44 meters.

Wynn Design and Development (WDD) manages the intricate design and architectural elements of the resort, supported by over 90 skilled professionals. This in-house team ensures that every aspect of the resort reflects Wynn’s high standards of luxury and innovation.

The site is bustling with activity, hosting about 9,100 construction workers daily, alongside more than 100 concrete trucks operating each day to meet the project’s demands. The resort’s construction is a beehive of rigorous activity and meticulous planning, ensuring timely progress toward the grand opening.

According to the company’s press release, upon completion, Wynn Al Marjan Island will boast 1,542 elegant rooms and suites, with 1,121 rooms already structurally complete. Currently, fit-outs are underway in 820 rooms, integrating sophisticated wall, floor, and ceiling designs, alongside essential mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations. Moreover, this month has seen the commencement of elevator and escalator installations, further indicating progress.

The resort promises to redefine luxury in the MENA region with its array of 22 restaurants, lounges, and bars, a vibrant nightclub, and an expansive beach club on the Arabian Gulf. The property will also feature a sprawling poolscape, luxurious private cabanas, and lush tropical landscaping over 3.6 hectares.

Comprehensive leisure and business facilities:

Guests and visitors can look forward to a 15,000-square-meter shopping promenade, filled with high-end boutiques, a five-star spa, and a salon. The resort will also include a 7,500-square-meter meetings and events center, complemented by a state-of-the-art theater, poised to host exclusive gatherings and entertainment events.

Wynn Resorts is developing this landmark project in collaboration with Marjan and RAK Hospitality Holding. This partnership underscores a significant commitment to establishing the first integrated gaming resort in the MENA region. The UAE gaming market, following the securing of a casino license in October by Wynn, is poised to be worth between $3 billion and $5 billion, with the Ras Al Khaimah location potentially generating $1 billion to $1.67 billion in gross gaming revenue.

In this month’s Q3 earnings call, Wynn CEO Craig Billings conveyed his optimism about the UAE, remarking, “certainly the most exciting new market for our industry in decades.” He further emphasized, “I remain incredibly bullish about the future of our company. We have the best assets in the world’s premier gaming markets and our team is the most dedicated team in the business.”

As Wynn Resorts continues to make strides in its development of Wynn Al Marjan Island, the project not only symbolizes a significant expansion of the global gaming and hospitality industry but also marks a pivotal development in the UAE’s luxury and tourism sector. Scheduled to open in Q1 of 2027, the resort is set to become a premier destination, enhancing the region’s appeal as a top-tier tourist and business hub.
