On March 1st, the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Gold Eagle Casino in North Battleford, in west central Saskatchewan, Canada.

Zane Hansen, president and CEO of SIGA, said in a press release that he is grateful for the support the casino has received from the City of North Battleford and surrounding communities. “SIGA is pleased to be celebrating 20 years of success in North Battleford with the newly expanded Gold Eagle Casino. We are grateful to our patrons, employees and members of the community for their support. We remain committed to making a positive impact through job creation, helping drive the tourism industry and sharing our success through community investment.”

All throughout the month of March, the Gold Eagle Casino’s anniversary will be celebrated. Numerous events and promotions for patrons are being prepared by the casino, according to the casino’s General Manager Kelly Atcheynum. “We are excited to celebrate this very special anniversary. We will kick the party off with a cake cutting ceremony on March 1, followed by daily food specials in our Kihiw restaurant, a wide variety of live entertainment in our Event Centre and hosting draws for cash and prizes all month long on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.”

The casino opened on March 1, 1996, and it’s grown to employ more than 300 people, with continued expansion. Last summer the latest expansion debuted when the 34,000 square-foot facility added another 5,000 square-feet of space, which enabled part of the casino have a designated smoke free area. Located off of highway 16 adjacent to the Gold Eagle Casino, the Gold Eagle Lodge is North Battlefords’ newest hotel and offers 112 non smoking guest rooms, a large indoor salt water pool, 3 hot tubs and an exercise facility. The casino features 335 coinless slot machines and eight gaming tables, and the 85-seat Kiwi Restaurant serves a full range of dining options. In addition, the facility’s casino event center has 5,100 square-feet of floor space.

A total of six Native casinos are operated by SIGA, employing more than 1,850 workers, and entertaining over 4.5 million guests annually.
