On Monday, August 21st, world-renowned poker champion Phil Hellmuth will be meeting with poker fans at the Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady. The ‘Poker Brat’ will be visiting the casino ahead of the Poker Night in America television show visiting the venue to host tournament events. While at the casino, Hellmuth will be signing copies of “Poker Brat”, a new book written by the poker pro.
From 5 to 6pm at the Rivers Casino Poker Room, the public can meet Hellmuth and purchase a copy of his book for signing. In advance of the book signing, Hellmuth will be in the poker room meeting with the media for interviews at 1pm.
The following day, Hellmuth will be joined by fellow poker pros Doug Polk, Frank Kassela and Daniel Cates to begin a competition for Poker Night in America. This will be a $200,000 heads-up event with a winner-take-all King of the Hill format. The event will take place in front of a live audience, so fans of the pros as well as the game of poker can watch as the action unfolds. The event will take place on the 22nd and 23rd in the Van Slyck entertainment lounge.
Each of the four players will have to pay $50,000 for the King of the Hill competition, which will take place in bracket style. Fans are encouraged to attend or watch the live stream online via www.twitch.tv/PokerNightTV.
On the 24th and 25th, Poker Night in America will keep filming as the flagship $25/$50 No Limit Cash Game will take place in the Van Slyck Entertainment Lounge as well. Local players will be able to compete with top pros as the game is live streamed and televised.
At the same time, the venue will see the return of the Capital Region Classic $100K Guaranteed No Limit Texas Hold’em Tournament. This event will begin on the 23rd with multiple Day One flights running from Wednesday to Saturday the 26th.
