The current Director of Group Regulatory Affairs for William Hill Plc (WMH:London), Andrew Lyman, has reportedly been appointed by the Government of Gibraltar, a British Overseas Territory, as its new Executive Director & Head of Gambling, according to a recent announcement.

Lyman, an industry veteran who specializes in public affairs, leadership advisory and regulations, will replace Philip Brear, who has held the position for nearly a decade and will serve in an advisory role to the government of Gibraltar. The executive role is expected to be taken over by Lyman in January 2018.

Lyman will reportedly lead stakeholder relationships and regulatory guidance in Gibraltar as it prepares to make a series of changes to its taxation arrangements, the introduction of the Gambling Act Review and new regulatory codes and policies that will reportedly take effect in 2018, according to yogonet.com.

Lyman’s appointment was confirmed by Albert Isola, Minister with responsibility for Gambling in Gibraltar, who said: “Andrew is very well known in the industry, here in the UK and further afield, as an authoritative voice on policy, regulation, public affairs and the operation and development of all aspects of remote and non-remote gambling.”

Isola added, “Gibraltar remains committed to supporting the gaming community and to providing the very best in remote and all other gambling services, safely and securely, and Andrew’s appointment reflects this commitment and determination to remain best in class.”
