William Hill PLC (LSE: WMH) has confirmed the appointment of former Betfair exec Mark Brooker as the UK-based bookmaker’s new Chairman of Corporate Responsibility Committee.
Originally announced by William Hill on August 2, 2017, Thursday’s confirmation coincides with Responsible Gambling Week, which was launched by the Industry Group for Responsible Gambling (IGRG) on Thursday as well.
According to the news release, Brooker will assume the responsibilities for chairing the Corporate Responsibility Committee when Ashley Highfield steps down from the Board of Governance effective Nov. 16, 2017.
Seasoned in the gaming industry, Brooker came to William Hill as Non-Executive Advisory in Nov. 2016 after having served as Chief Executive and Executive Director for Betfair Group Plc. Afterward, he was promoted to Non-Executive Director, which he maintained until this most recent promotion. As William Hill’s Chairman of Corporate Responsibility, Brooker will be responsible for managing programs, group policies, strategies and initiatives which relate to social/corporate responsibility affairs.
Committed to encouraging responsible gambling, William Hill has put measures in place to encourage its customers to gamble responsibly and to provide the necessary tools to help them to control their gambling, such as gambling interactions and self-exclusion.
