For the very first time, the state of Massachusetts will offer a new gaming lab in order to prepare individuals to work in the casino management industry. The new gaming lab is titled the Catch Institute and located within the Silver City Galleria Mall. Director of the Catch Institute, John Caressimo, stated that the lab is a great opportunity for young people who are looking for a good-paying job and a job that there will be many openings for.

According to TurnTo10, officials of Bristol Community College held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday morning at the new casino lab in Taunton. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission gave the college the necessary approvals back in June to create the Catch Institute to provide training for students to work in the casino industry. The lab will be running table games such as blackjack and poker.

Caressimo stated further that the community will benefit from the location of the facility as training will be available locally for positions that will be needed at new gaming venues. The gaming industry is growing and Caressimo stated that now is a good time to learn what it takes to work in this industry.

When all three casinos are open in the state, there will be 10,000+ jobs available. MGM Springfield and Project First Light Resort & Casino are set to open in 2018 while the Wynn Boston Harbor Resort will open in 2019. Each venue will need a variety of employees including table gaming dealers, casino management, food service, housekeeping and more.

With the new training facility, students will be able to complete training and earn an associate’s degree once finished. Academic classes must also be completed during training including history and math.
