After a one-year break, the Latin American Poker Tour was revived by PokerStars, but unfortunately, the first stop of the tour has now been canceled. PokerStars has announced that the LAPT Chile stop will no longer take place. The tour stop was set to be hosted by the Enjoy Viña del Mar Casino & Resort, Chile.
The cancellation was originally posted by the online poker room via their blog. In a press release, by way of the Spanish PokerStars blog, it stated that after reviewing the possibilities of the region within Latin America, along with the dates and live events, PokerStars decided to cancel the Latin American Poker Tour Chile stop. The press release went on to state that PokerStars is working to perfect their live sponsored events with a ‘goal of presenting a richer, more exciting and solid event offer’.
Players who were to take part in the LAPT Chile event have had their money returned to their accounts if they were classified via PokerStars. Players who were classified via the tour stop casino, Enjoy Viña del Mar Casino & Resort, must rely on the venue for refunds.
It was announced last year that the Latin American Poker Tour would be back in action for 2018, with players ready to take part. The cancellation of the first stop is not the best way to see the return of the popular PokerStars live tour, but hopefully, the LAPT will be back in action in no time.
When reviewing the LAPT page as of printing, the page remains relatively blank. PokerStars has stated on the page that players can check back soon for news on upcoming events. Once events have been listed, players should be able to visit the Qualify page to take part.
