The Dragonara Casino is one of the oldest and most popular casinos in Malta, having been open to the public since 1964. One of main reasons why the casino is so unique is because it is located within the historical Dragonara palace that was built for the Scicluna family back in 1870. The casino has played a vital role over the years in establishing Malta as a popular tourist destination and receives more than 300,000 visitors every year.

Dragonara Gaming, which runs the Dragonara casino, decided to invest a €10 million a few months ago to give the casino a complete makeover. The project involved making significant changes to its overall infrastructure, gaming floor, restaurants, design and ambience. The company hired some of the best casino designers in the world and completed the makeover in record time.

In a statement, Johann Schembri, Managing Director and Partner of Dragonara Gaming said “Special attention has been devoted to the layout and design of the Live Tables set-up with the aim to create an unrivalled player experience. We have also invested in first-to-market SLOT products from the world’s top industry suppliers. Our range of Slots products defines our commitment towards the slots casino players providing such patrons with the latest and most avant-garde machines available on the market.”

The new and improved Dragonara casino will now feature a special VIP lounge, a sports betting lounge and a special poker room that has a great backdrop overlooking the views of St. George’s Bay. The casino decided that it was important to have a special VIP area for high-rollers as there has been a growing demand by international VIP players and local high stake groups who were interested in private gaming facilities. The casino has partnered with IZIBET, the fastest sports betting brand in Malta to offer its patrons a wide range of sports betting facilities that feature the best land based odds available.

The Dragonara Casino used to provide employment opportunities to around 120 people in the past but with the new and improved facilities another 80 casino employees have been hired. The casino believes that this €10 million strategic investment will help the Dragonara Casino to become one of the most sought after casinos in Europe. The casino is also looking to attract non-gaming visitors with the opening of the VIOLETTA restaurant. The new restaurant serves a great Mediterranean menu and provides guest with a spectacular view of St. Julian’s Bay.

One of the main objectives for Dragonara Gaming was not only to enhance the Dragonara casino but also to market Malta as a great destination for casino entertainment.
