Speculation over whether Tony Fung Wing Cheung will continue to invest in a Cairns, Queensland, Australia casino project has been answered with a letter he wrote. The release of the letter to the public occurred on April 24, 2015. In the letter Cheung states that the new Queensland government has been positive with regards to casino projects. “Their attitude to investment” definitely coincides with Cheung’s desire to build the Aquis Great Barrier Reef Resort near Cairns.

Cheung’s team is positive that negotiations will move towards building the casino he has in mind, with the chance to soon announce more developments on the matter.

In August, Aquis was given a green light for the project. With an unexpected  turn in  election results in February, it was widely speculated  that a casino might not be so easily integrated into the larger resort project; with Mr. Fung seeming to indicate he would not move forward with the project if no casino was involved.
