Online poker giant PokerStars has partnered with Team Furia, an eSports organization based in Brazil. The partnership will combine the world of poker and eSports in one, with Furia looking to expand its focus after its success with Counter Strike: Global Offensive. Working together, Furia and PokerStars will provide poker and eSports communities with unique content as well as entertainment options.
New Streamers
The partnership will see a new team of streamers enter the fray, with Furia CEO André Akkari in the mix along with Lali Tournier. Akkari is also a PokerStars Ambassador and known for being a successful Brazilian poker player. Tournier is a to female poker pro in Latin America and has cashed out in several major poker tournaments around the world.
Akkari commented on the partnership with PokerStars stating: “Poker plays a natural part in Furia’s DNA. It’s all about making optimal decisions in the moment for long-term results. The partnership is a natural step for expansion as we look to move beyond eSports.”
1st Anniversary in Pennsylvania
As PokerStars looks to advance in the eSports world, they also have made strides in the state of Pennsylvania. The online poker brand is celebrating its first year in operation in the Keystone State in November with a special 1st Anniversary Series.
From November 8-16, PokerStars PA will offer 35 tournament events with a total of $1 million in prize money up for grabs. The series will include several options for gaming each day including PKOs, 8-Max, and more.
The Main Event of the series has a low $100 buy-in and features a $200,000 prize pool. There is also a Mini Main event with $25,000 in prize money on offer with an even smaller $20 buy-in.
