This year, PokerStars celebrates the 20th edition of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). The festival will start on August 22 and offer 102 events. Players can take part in Low, Medium, and High options with gaming set to continue through September 15. In total, $100 million in prize money will be on offer with six Main Events featuring $16 million in guaranteed prizes.
Plenty of Action
The 2021 WCOOP is going to be huge. There will be 306 tournaments in total due to a Low, Medium, and High option per event. Players will find buy-ins on each level, making every event affordable for every player in some form or fashion.
According to Managing Director of Poker for PokerStars, Severin Rasset, the WCOOP will be the biggest yet with the $100 million in total prize money. Champions will receive unique trophies and various ways for players to qualify to compete.
Right now, PokerStars is offering up the Road to WCOOP satellites. Players can compete until August 21 for a ticket to the WCOOP. The series will offer $1 million in satellite tickets. Through August 15, the site will offer 50/50 WCOOP Series, with every winning earning a Main Event entry. This ticket has a $5,200 value.
The online poker series offers any and everything, from traditional NLHE events, Freezeouts, Pot Limit Omaha, Turbos, PKOs, HORSE, High Roller events, and so much more. The WCOOP will begin with the Kickoff events, with the Low tournament featuring a $5.50 buy-in and $75,000 in guaranteed prize money.
The Medium Kickoff is a $300,000 guaranteed event with a buy-in of $55. On the high end, players can compete in the $530 kickoff, with $400,000 in prize money on offer.
Additional WCOOP Details
Along with the tournament schedule, PokerStars has announced details involving the WCOOP Leaderboard competitions. Players can compete for the WCOOP Player of the year via four separate leaderboard competitions. A total of $100,000 in prizes will be shared among the winners of the boards.
The Low winner will earn $5,000 plus a trophy while the Medium winner will earn an $8,500 prize and a trophy. The High leaderboard winner will earn $12,500 plus a trophy. For the overall winner, a prize of $25,000 will be provided along with a trophy recognizing the player’s effort.
The WCOOP is also offering a Fast Track where players can win WCOOP seats every day until September 12. Fast Track events start as low as $1 and offer Main Event seats valued at $5,200. Players can easily take part in this affordable option to try and earn a seat to the big event.
