The Resorts World Sentosa was recently subject to cheating after a croupier and patron decided to work together to cheat the facility. Just yesterday, nine charges were served against the two individuals involved in the case.
Zhang Zhijiu is the croupier in question who has been linked to Chau Lai Huat, the patron in the case. Both worked together to cheat the Resorts World Sentosa at the Three Card Poker Tables. Zhijiu is accused of using his position as a dealer at the casino to give Chua an unfair advantage during game play.
Last Wednesday, the two were charged with one count of cheating at play but now the courts have added nine additional charges. Certain reports state that even more charges could be filed against both men. During game play, Zhang would reveal the value of the last card of the deck by exposing the card at an angle to Chua.
The cheating activity reportedly took place on July 14th at six in the morning. The two men were arrested the very same day once the operator of the casino alerted police. Officers arrived at the casino and seized $6,000 in chips as well as additional items that were thought to have been used in the cheating process. Both men are now out on $15,000 bail each and will be back in court on August 19th. Each could face a maximum fine of $150,000 and as many as seven years in prison.
