Canadian tribal gambling is thriving these days with the native-run Saskatchewan casinos reporting record profits. The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority announced that its revenues recently reached $191 million, with about $60 million being profit. This is good news to the entire area as half of the profits go to the provincial government and regional development corporations. The chief executive of the agency, Zane Hansen, credited the opening of the Whitecap casino south of Saskatoon with helping to boost revenues. With two more casinos scheduled to open in the next few months, revenues should continue to climb for the Saskatchewan casino industry.
