Las Vegas-based provider of games, systems and services for casino, lottery and social gaming Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS) recently congratulated one of its longtime customers the Florida Lottery after it broke the single week sales record for Instant Games in the US.

According to the press release, for the week ending March 4 this year, $123,841,686 worth of scratch-off tickets, 98.7% of which [games] were created by Scientific Games, were purchased by Floridians. Benefitting the state’s students, the ticket sales reportedly generated upwards of $2 million in contributions to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.

The Florida Lottery is, according to La Fleur’s Almanac, ranked Number 4 in the world for total instant game sales and with $167,620,057 in total sales (instant and other games), it had its best overall sales week for the fiscal year, with approximately $40 million in total going to benefit education in the state, according to the press release.

Florida Lottery Secretary, Jim Poppell, said, “We are thrilled to share that the U.S. lottery industry’s latest record-breaking week in Florida was led by our new $30100X The Cash game with more than $34,279,230 in retail sales.”

“Our new game represented a remarkable 27.6 percent of the week’s instant game sales. Floridians love the game, and last week they claimed more than $23.5 million in prizes playing it,” added Poppell.

Also breaking its own record, the new $30100X The Cash broke the record set by the Lottery last year for individual instant games sales by its $25$10,000,000 World Class Cash game. The latter launched the very same week the Florida Lottery handled the US record for sales of instant games in March last year. Scientific Games designed both of the record-breaking games.

Last year for the week ending March 5, the US record was shattered by the Florida Lottery when upwards of $105.2 million worth of weekly instant game sales were recorded, which was bested when the California Lottery had weekly “scratcher” sales of $112.1 million the last week of December.

Senior Vice president, Instant Products for Scientific Games, John Schulz, said, “Scientific Games congratulates the Florida Lottery and we are honored to celebrate breaking the U.S. record for weekly instant game sales with them.”

The senior VP went on to say, “We will continue our longtime collaboration with the Lottery to bring entertaining instant games to Floridians, along with our technology and services that help generate more contributions to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.”

Last fiscal year, instant games reportedly comprised approximately 68% of the Florida Lottery’s total sales, making them an important part of its portfolio of games.
