The first casino to open in Manila’s (Parañaque) Entertainment City posted a loss of P1.315 billion for 2013. Solaire has turned that number around with a significant profit for 2014. The Solaire casino reported P4.072 billion in profits, which is $91 million USD for their first full year of operations. Solaire owner, Enrique Razon, opened the first of the billion dollar casinos in the Philippines in March of 2013, followed by Melco Crown’s City of Dreams in 2014.
The profits prove that the goals Razon and Solaire have can be achieved as part of Entertainment City. The idea is to create a gambling location that will rival Singapore and Las Vegas, as well as reach the same heights as Macau as a destination while still catering to local interests. Analysts believe there is nowhere to go but up.
Manila Bay Resorts has promised an opening by 2017 and Resorts World Bayshore should be open before the end of 2018 completing the PAGCOR project.
