After a successful inaugural launch in Lagos, Nigeria last year, Eventus-International is bringing their Sports Betting West Africa Summit to the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, Ghana this year for three days of events. The summit will focus on the sports betting and gambling markets in Africa which are burgeoning and showing signs of flourishing.
The first two days of the summit will consist mainly of conferences with the third day offering a Masterclass on African law and business. Leaders in industry thinking and innovation from West Africa and beyond, including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and the United Kingdom will share their expertise and perspective as well as lend insight and education to delegates.
With a focus on the micro as well as macro elements of the industry, summit leaders will help delegates explore local trends as well as global strategies. An extensive look at the the regulatory climate in West Africa with a focus on betting and gambling markets will help lead participants toward ‘…the perfect entry into the African betting and gambling market…’ which is the summit’s tag line.
While summits such as this in developing markets do provide valuable information and an educational opportunity for delegates, the conversations between and among operators, regulators and industry suppliers can sometimes transcend the value found in simply listening to the presentations and exploring the exhibition.
Notable speakers at the two-day conference include Mr. Tunde Ali, Chairman of the Ghana Gaming Board; Adolphus Ekpe, Director-General of the Nigerian National Lottery Commission and Tony Hill, CEO of Premier Betting Ghana, to name just a few.
On closing day the main focus will be on the Masterclass to be presented by Yahaya Maikori, Managing Partner, Law Allianz, Nigeria. The workshop promises to give participants the knowledge and skills needed to thoroughly examine business concerns such as tax issues when expanding into new markets, provide a pathway through the legalities required to create new partnerships in expanding markets such as West Africa.
