Newport Grand Casino in Rhode Island has tried to get permission to add table games to their casino, to no avail. With new casinos being built in Massachusetts the Twin River Management Group who recently purchased the casino would like to make sure they can keep the casino open. However, to truly compete Twin River Management Group believes a new location for the license belonging to Newport Grand Casino is necessary. The company wants to use the license for a new build just 400 feet from the Massachusetts border. They have secured an option to purchase 45 acres of land in Tiverton.

Building the new casino with slots and added table games would help the state compete with new casino projects in Massachusetts. This would protect the possible loss of $30 million revenue the Newport Grand Casino could lose in the next five years. If the new build gets approval Newport Grand would close and relocate.
