On Monday, a job fair hosted by Wynn Resorts for the new Encore Boston Harbor came to an end. The Hynes Convention Center of Boston hosted the job fair, with the company hoping to find enough candidates to fill over 5,000 employment positions. Available jobs at the casino in Everett include table game dealers, wait staff, baristas and many more positions. The job fair took place over a two day time frame.
Interview Process:
Wynn made the application process quite fun it seems for participants. Once the preliminary interviews were completed, those who took part in the process waited in a room where a DJ played music. Employees of the company were on hand to help alleviate any pressure of the interview process in the room by playing Jenga and cornhole with applicants.
When the event began, over 2,000 people submitted their resumes. Because of the turnout, the company is now looking to host another job fair in March. Most applicants attending the job fair showed interest in front desk positions as well as concierge openings.
According to MassLive.com…
During the job fair, Wynn started with first-round interviews. During this round, the employers worked to identify if a candidate was professional and had the right personality to move on to the second round.
Once passing the first round, a candidate can then move on to the second, third and even a fourth round of interviews. Wynn Resorts wants to secure employees for their right positions within the company. The job fair took place on Sunday and Monday. On Monday, it took the first two hours to interview applicants who were from the host communities. This included Everett, Boston, Somerville, Chelsea, Medford and other regions.
Reassuring Investors:
The Encore Boston Harbor is on track to open on June 23rd. Earlier this month, the company reportedly began reassuring investors that the casino resort would be opening on schedule, despite obtaining the go-ahead from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
The company is currently under investigation by the Commission regarding sexual misconduct allegations against the former CEO of the company, Steve Wynn. Chief Executive Officer Matt Maddox used a fourth-quarter conference call to detail that the facility is on course to open this summer.
