In Fulton County, Georgia on Monday 16 March 2015, 23 people were arrested in connection with an illegal gambling den at Pepperoni’s Tavern. Police detained 65 people during the raid on the closed restaurant, but only half went to jail.

Police say this is the largest gambling operation to open its doors in Alpharetta. Channel 2 Action News caught the arrests and detainment of suspects while undercover investigators started putting people in vans. The old pizza restaurant, located on Old Milton Parkway was closed at the time. However, those running the high-stakes gambling den opened the doors to invited guests.

With the upcoming NCAA basketball tournament much of the focus was on gambling about March Madness, according to police. During the raid several handguns were recovered. Those arrested are facing misdemeanors and a select few are charged with felonies.
