For the fourth consecutive quarter, Arizona’s tribal gaming revenue, received from fifteen tribes operating twenty-three casinos, has increased over the same time period compared to the year before.
The Arizona Department of Gaming reports that the most recent quarterly tribal revenue payment to the state of Arizona will be about $25.8 million, which is about a 4.5% increase. 2015’s first quarter ending March 31 saw a 4.7% increase.
Arizona gaming Director Daniel Bergin states that nearly half of the tribal casino revenue or $12.8 million contributes to the state’s education program, specifically the Instructional Improvement Fund. Less than 10% goes towards operating costs. About $6.4 million is going into the Trauma and Emergency Services fund.
