The Jeju Dream Tower of Jeju Island has now chosen a builder, with China State Construction Engineering Corporation to be at the helm. The 700 billion won resort will consist of multiple complexes, owned by the Greenland Group, and will include shopping malls, over 1,600 hotel guest rooms and a casino which will only be open to foreigners.
The casino will have 200 gaming tables and 400 slot machines, with the construction of the building to begin in May. The resort is set to be completed by early 2019, and have 38 stories once completed. The Greenland Group, owned by Lotte Tour, has stated that the Dream Tower will be the tallest building to be located on the island.
When the resort is completed, the Greenland Group will manage the hotel while Lotte Tour will be the operator of the hotel and casino. It was difficult for the Greenland Group to find a builder suitable for the project as they wanted someone who would be fully responsible for the resort’s construction.
With the construction of the new venue, it will mark the creation of one of the largest casino resorts that is considered for foreigners only on Jeju Island. The island only has eight casinos operating currently and are considered very small based on international standards.
