The largest online poker room available today is preparing to launch a new exclusive live tournament for players to enjoy beginning in 2019. The Players No Limit Hold’em Championship will feature $9 million in added prize money, with a $25,000 buy-in. The first PSPC will take place the week before the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in 2019.
PokerStars will be adding the $9 million to the prize pool with $8 million in tournament entries to be given away throughout next year as the online poker room prepares for the inaugural event. An additional $1 million will also be given to the eventual winner of the new tournament.
With the $8 million in PSPC tournament entries to be given away, PokerStars will be offering Platinum Passes. These Platinum Passes will be packages to the tournament and worth $30,000 each. The pass will include the buy-in to the event plus money to use for accommodations and travel. According to the PokerStars blog, the passes will be given away via land-based and online play.
With the online option, players will need to win an online tournament such as a Turbo Championship of Online Poker event or Sunday Million. PokerStars will be setting up key online poker tournaments so that players can compete, and win Platinum Passes to attend the PSPC in 2019.
Land-based opportunities to win Platinum Passes will also be on offer. Info on winning passes in live events should be released soon. However, we do know the first opportunity to win a Platinum Pass started just two days ago with the PokerStars Championship Prague.
On top of this massive new poker event, PokerStars has also announced they will be reintroducing popular live poker tours. The Latin America Poker Tour, European Poker Tour and the Asia Pacific Poker Tour will all be back in action soon. PokerStars will use these live tours to provide Platinum Passes to players for the upcoming PSPC.
