At every casino, patrons will find cocktail waitresses offering drinks during game play. At the Seminole Hard Rock Casino of Tampa, the venue is going a different route with their servers, opting to hire men this time around. The casino is hoping to capitalize on the number of women who visit the venue, as numbers indicate that more women than men are customers of the casino, over half to be exact. The male servers will target the female audience and the casino plans on hiring at least 50 males to operate as beverage servers on the casino gaming floor.
On Wednesday, a job fair was held and applications were filled out for the positions. The servers will wear black pants and button-down shirts with a red undershirt along with boots. The uniform was considered based on the uniform of the waitresses of the property. Servers will be able to work 24 to 32 hours each week and earn $3.25 an hour plus tips.
The Seminole casino is not the first to consider hiring male servers. A few years ago, the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City decided to add males in server positions as well.
