The number of police officers that visitors see along the Las Vegas Strip is about to change. The Las Vegas police department have announced that the number of officers on foot patrol will be increased beginning today and lasting until Labor Day.

The changes in foot patrol numbers are part of the Safe Strip plan, an annual attempt to accommodate for the increase in visitors to Las Vegas during the summer season, which is always busy. As many as 12 million visitors are estimated to be visiting the Las Vegas Strip during the time frame.

Uniformed officers will be set to patrol during the weekends as well as holidays and major events. Police state that the increased foot patrols will be paid for by the casino and hotel properties located on the Strip. Officers will be enforcing the laws but also assisting vacationers who need information during travel.
