Integrated resort developer and operator Sands China Ltd (HKEx: 1928) has announced that the launch of the first part of the phased opening of its Londoner Macao will take place on February 8, 2021.
Updating its December “early February” estimate, the Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) subsidiary reportedly said on Thursday that the now, US$1.9 billion, reimagining of the Sands Cotai Central would open “progressively” throughout the year, according to GGRAsia. Earlier estimates had the cost of the redevelopment at a slightly higher US$2.2 billion.
“The entire company is eagerly anticipating the launch of our newest themed destination – The Londoner Macao.”
Included in the first phase, the company will reportedly unveil the all-suite and newly-branded Londoner Hotel, Crystal Palace atrium, new dining options, and interactive London-themed attractions, within Q1, according to the source.
Star power:
Among the offerings to be introduced throughout the year, two top two floors of the Londoner Hotel will incorporate 14 exclusive Suites by David Beckham, British icon and Sands Resorts Macao global ambassador.
Formerly the St. Regis Tower Suites, Londoner Court, which, together with Londoner Hotel comprise the Londoner Macao, will also reportedly open later this year, along with a new 6,000-seat arena, Londoner Arena, and rebranded and expanded retail space, Shoppes at Londoner.
World-class destination:
The news agency cites Sands China President Dr Wilfred Wong, who reportedly spoke at a staff member rally, of “more than 5,700” people, as part of the company’s preparation for the launch, saying…

Special training:
GGRAsia also reported that the Macao property’s official booking engine indicated the nightly rate for a suite at the Londoner Hotel for two people to be as much as HKD5,500-plus (US$709) from the fourth day of the Chinese New Year holiday, on February 14, to February 17.
Inside Asia Gaming further reports that 4,900 of The Londoner Macao’s 5,700-staff opening team have been part of training that will help them to create an authentic British experience for guests. And that according to Sands China, the specially-designed “Londoner’s Pride” course encompasses The Londoner Macao’s service culture, the Forbes service standard, product and service knowledge for The Londoner Macao, as well as British culture and history.
According to an earlier release, the booking period for The Londoner Hotel began accepting room reservations from Dec. 15, 2020, for availability from Jan. 22, 2021.
