Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, the founding prime minister of Singapore, recently passed away and to pay their respects, several  casinos of Singapore and elsewhere will be closing during a specific time period. The state funeral for Lee Kuan Yew will take place on Sunday afternoon and casinos will take this time to close and pay their respects. From 2pm to 6pm, the Resorts World Sentosa will close to pay their respects, while the Marina Bay Sands will also be closing during the same time frame. The closure is subject to regulatory approval.

Before the funeral begins, a telecast will be set up to cover the funeral procession, beginning at 12:30pm. The procession will travel 15.4km before reaching the venue for the funeral service. From 2pm to 5:15pm the funeral will take place. After the service, the prime minister will be traveling to the Mandai Crematorium for a cremation service which will be privately held.

Mr. Lee Kuan Yew was much revered by his countrymen and the international community. He was affectionately known by many citizens as their “Lion King”.
